MATCh aims to improve the quality of patient’s life through increasing the life-expectancy of hip prostheses through developing new macroporous glass-ceramic coatings for the surface modification of commercial ceramic acetabular cups.
We have developed specialist bioactive glass materials suitable for the new laser cladding process.
Developed in a unique partnership on glass production, coatings fabrication and software on demand, the biocompatible technology was made possible through a research grant from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
